AiEraser vs DeleteFootprints — Honest Comparison

Short version

DeleteFootprints.ai is a free, no-signup tool with a genuinely thorough approach — it presents a detailed breakdown (AI Footprint Status, Content Authenticity/C2PA fields, File Information, and a full raw "Other Data" dump of claim and assertion fields) and a one-click "Remove All Metadata" action, supported by a Buy Me a Coffee donation model rather than ads. It's a strong, detailed tool in the same category as AiEraser.

What DeleteFootprints does well

A genuinely detailed, categorized metadata breakdown rather than a flat list.
No signup, no usage limits, free to use.
A straightforward one-click full removal action.

Where AiEraser differs

Real EXIF writing — AiEraser's Edit mode writes new Title/Author/Description fields as genuine EXIF data, not just removal/viewing.
Unrecognized-chunk flagging — our scanner treats any non-standard PNG chunk or JPEG segment as worth flagging by default, rather than relying on a fixed list of known metadata types — a design choice that came directly out of catching a real gap (an early version of our own scanner missed the caBX C2PA chunk the same way a fixed-list approach can).
Signature algorithm identification — we decode and report the actual COSE signature algorithm (e.g. ES256) present in a C2PA manifest.
HEIC input with selectable output format and a documented, transparent explanation of exactly when and why a file briefly touches a server (see our privacy policy).

Honestly, both are solid choices

If you want a fast, detailed, free tool and DeleteFootprints' interface works for you, it's a reasonable option. We built AiEraser with a slightly different emphasis — on decoding depth, format-specific technical accuracy, and genuine EXIF writing — but the core job (showing and removing AI/image metadata for free) is shared ground.
